I am sure most of you have seen the post announcing the 40% price slash in Lagos - https://newsroom.uber.com/nigeria/lagos-were-lowering-fares-by-up-to-40/
Many drivers have begun to conjure a bleak future for the UBER driving experience. Please still hang on to your pants, it's not so bad, infact in many ways, now it's good. Let's examine a few ways the reverse psychology of reducing prices is good.
1) Everywhere is Surging!
As an UBER driver, a surge is like one of the coolest things, it's like Christmas, because you get to make way more than you are supposed to make.
Let's take a practical example. If the fare to a location used N1000, but due to the 40% slash, the fare is now N600 (boo!), However, because of this reduction, surges that used to be rare now begin to happen consistently (Yah! Christmas is now everyday)
Suddenly fares that are supposed to be N600, get estimated at N1,200 (for areas with x2 surge) and N1,800 (for areas with x3 surge).
You become hot cake, like a beautiful bride who is being paired off to the highest bidder.
2) Guaranteed Earnings
Guaranteed earnings are UBER's way of ensuring you are compensated for being available, even when there are fewer riders, most days, you don't need this, but it's good to know that this is available for those slow days.
And on these days, UBER pays you additional money to ensure that you make a minimum amount every hour you are online. So for example, if UBER guarantees you N1,500 for every hour online, even if you only do one trip in that hour, which only came to let's say N500, UBER pays you N1,000 at the end of that hour, so you are sure that if you work say 5 hours within the guaranteed period, you would have made at least N7,500
So register now to start driving on UBER Nigeria and start earning some cool take home money every single day.
